YESSENOV LECTURES: SEASON WRAP UP

Along with the Kazakhstan students approaching the end-of-year exams, our Lectures traditionally take a break before starting anew in the next academic year. The past season that took off in October 2015 had 22 lectures presented by 11 well-known professionals of various fields with over 1 200 attendees. Yessenov Lectures took place at the al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Kazakh-British Technical University, Almaty Management University, The “Narkhoz” University (formerly T. Ryskulov New Economic University) and the Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University.

The Yessenov Lectures is a series of guest lectures delivered by professionals and experts in various fields where representatives of various industry companies give students a better understanding of the modern labour market requirements and the chance to assess their potential and find ways for further improvement.  During this season the students learned from a business person Andrey Astakhov, the general director of the Young Entrepreneurs Club Pavel Koktyshev, the director of the Kazakh-Chinese company Tilektes Adambekov, a startup founder Eldar Akhmetgaliyev, publisher Oleg Khe and an ultramarathon runner and triathlete Artem Yakupov.

The program’s coordinator Gregory Lee informs “For the next academic year we are planning to invite more than 10 lecturers that represent the foundation’s main focus areas such as geology. And in order to diversify the spectrum of topics, to make them even more interesting for the young people, we have got an idea to invite professional from, for example, design field and many other areas. We are also considering making a film about the Yessenov Lectures and publishing an e-guide that encompasses the past two seasons’ lectures with presentations and biographies of the guests”.

The previous season had 550 students of Satpayev KazNTU, Yessenov CSUTE, Abay KazNPU and other Kazakhstan universities attending the lectures. The five lectures were delivered by Professor James Jackson (Cambridge University) and Anxo Pérez (author and innovator, motivational speaker), Nurlan Kulshinbayev (Tengizchevroil) and Valikhan Ten (World Class).
