YESSENOV LECTURES: THE 3RD SEASON
“The Academician Shakhmardan Yessenov and Metallogenic Science of Kazakhstan” is the title of the opening lecture of the series of guest lectures organized by the Foundation at national universities.
This year the Yessenov Lectures will have a doctor of geological-mineralogical sciences, academician of the International Academy of Mineral Resources and Academy of Mineral Resources of Kazakhstan, Eleanora Seitmuratova open the season. The lecture will take place on 6 October at 15:10 in KazNRTU named after K. Satpayev (Almaty, intersection of Satpayev and Massanchi streets, Conference Hall, 1st floor). As the title of the lecture suggests, the speaker will focus on the contribution of the scientist to the development of metallogeny in our country as we approach the 90th anniversary of Shakhmardan Yessenov that will be widely celebrated in Kazakhstan next year.
Grigoriy Lee, the manager of the “Yessenov Lectures” program shares the big plans for the 2016-2017 season:
“Students will be able to meet many interesting lecturers such as a Cambridge Professor Montu Saxena, Chairperson of the ATFBank’s Board of Directors Galimzhan Yessenov, civil society specialist Ainur Absemetova, Oxford Professor and earthquake geologist Richard Walker, circus artist Murat Muturganov and Director of the Finstar investment company Eugene Timko. We also hope to invite the captain of the national mountaineers team Maksut Zhumaev to the Lectures, as well as two best women chess players of Kazakhstan by the March holidays. We will continue to produce videos of the lectures and post them on the Foundation’s YouTube channel, so anyone from around the world would have the access to the lectures.”
Among the planned lectures there is also one by the member of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees Eldar Akhmetgaliyev – a scientist and startup owner operating in Silicon Valley and living permanently in the United States. Yessenov Lectures launched on September 3, 2014 at the Satpayev KazNTU (KazNRTU today) with a lecture of a British scientist and seismologist, Professor James Jackson. Since then there have been 16 speakers and about 1,800 students have attended the lectures.
