A KAZAKHSTAN STUDENT AT INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE
Kulyash Zhumadilova, the 4-year student of Nazarbayev University and the grantee of the Science and Education Shahmardan Yessenov Foundation took part in the international scientific conference in Russia.
In 2013-2014 Kulyash participated in the grant competition of the Foundation, won it and did research at the American Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory at UC Berkeley. The results of the work of the Kazakhstani student and her American colleagues were published in the US Proceedings of the National Academy of Science scientific journal. In the footsteps of this success Kulyash was invited to the International conference of young scientists on theoretical and experimental Biophysics and was offered to speak on the “Determination of structural changes in Orange Carotenoid Protein by the X-Ray footprinting”.
The conference was held in the Russian town of Pushchino in November. K. Zhumadilova became the first Kazakh students invited to speak at the conference of such a high level. When prompted, she turned to the Shakhmardan Yessenov Foundation with request for a travel grant. The Foundation decided to pay Kulyash travel, accommodation and meal. Upon returning from the event she met with students of the Nazarbayev University at the seminar and shared the information and contacts obtained during the conference.
