One of the winners, Ksenia Karsheva, a chemical technology of inorganic substances major, from the Dulati Taraz State University kindly shares with us her experience:

— I was happy and honored to get to the second round. The final stage of the competition was very interesting. I participated in a business game for the first time in life. For me it was a rewarding experience, because I’ve that this approach is very often used when applying for a job. This scholarship for me is primarily an opportunity to continue the project that I am working on. Which is developing organic-based fertilizers from poultry waste, the type of fertilizers that will help to structure the soil of Kazakhstan, country’s very urgent unsolved problem.  There are expensive solutions, and they are being applied in here and there.  Whereas my solution will help to solve the recycling of organic waste and creating organic fertilizer for the soil.  The scholarship is certainly a great support for me.

Shakhmardan Yessenov, whose name is attributed to the scholarship, is a famous Kazakhstani geologist, researcher, science communicator and a prominent public figure, who served two terms as Minister of Geology in the Soviet Kazakhstan and headed the Academy of Sciences too. This year Kazakhstan is celebrating professor’s 90th birthday anniversary.
