Initially, over 50 people showed interest and registered for the event. National chess arbiter\u00a0<strong>Kazbek Tokubayev<\/strong>\u00a0led the team of arbiter who judged the tournament.<\/p>\n<p>The main prize of the competition, which amounts to hefty<strong>\u00a0450 thousand tenge<\/strong>\u00a0went to\u00a0<strong>Marat Zholamanov<\/strong>, while the second place runner up\u00a0<strong>Aidar Baimoldinov<\/strong>\u2019s performance earned him\u00a0<strong>250 thousand tenge<\/strong>. Both are employed as specialists at the &#8220;Institute of High Technologies&#8221; LLP that is under the national &#8220;Kazatomprom&#8221; company. The third place the arbiters awarded to\u00a0<strong>Beket Zharokov<\/strong>, who is also the oldest participant of the tournament and a former KazNRTU graduate, now retired.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 The tournament was successful. On the eve of Geologist Day, we managed to unite the representatives of this field from all over Kazakhstan. Even a chess player from Shieli village in Kyzylorda region, who works in &#8220;Volkovgeology&#8221; expedition, arrived for the tournament. Among other participants, there were students of the Satpayev University as well as practicing professionals and veterans of geology, \u2014 said\u00a0<strong>Nursultan Nurmukhanov<\/strong>, coordinator of Foundation\u2019s programs.<\/p>\n<p>The event was organized by the Shakhmardan Yessenov Foundation with the support from the Kazakhstan Chess Federation.
