The winners are\u00a0<strong>Laura Kaliyeva<\/strong>\u00a0(from Aktobe),\u00a0<strong>Albina Zhetybayeva<\/strong>\u00a0(Shemonaikha),\u00a0<strong>Beksultan Abylkhani<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Guliaym Sagyndykova<\/strong>, both from Almaty, and\u00a0<strong>Yerkanat Kanafin<\/strong>(Stepnogorsk). The five British professors who will supervise Kazakhstani students are Satheesh Krishnamurthy, Ellen L. Heeley, Carl Boardman, Nicholas Turner and Simon Collinson. Each professor contributed personally to the final stage of the selection process.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe candidates seemed to have carefully crafted their applications to highlight their suitability. I felt the quality of all the students was extremely high and they all had some relevant research experience beyond their undergraduate degree,\u201d \u2014 thinks\u00a0<strong>prof. Carl Boardman\u00a0<\/strong>(at the photo on the left).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/yessenovfoundation.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/1496302224_nstjb-image-320_240.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-473 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/yessenovfoundation.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/1496302224_nstjb-image-320_240.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"206\" height=\"155\" \/><\/a>\u201cIt was extremely difficult to choose as the 17 short-listed candidates all had unique qualities. I was very impressed with the standard of English from all the applicants. I greatly look forward to working with these Kazakh students and I am sure we\u2019ll see some successful project resulting in some interesting research results. I hope the students all learn a great deal from their time at the Open University,\u201d \u2014\u00a0<strong>prof.
